Buttermilk Orange Rolls

Dough Ingredients:

2 1/2 cup of flour

1 Teaspoon baking powder

2 Tablespoons sugar

1/2 Teaspoon baking soda

1 Teaspoon salt

1/2 cup softened butter

1 cup buttermilk

1/4-1/2 cup sourdough discard

Directions:

Mix dry ingredients

Add the butter and mix in with a pastry cutter or your hands

Pour in the buttermilk and the sourdough discard and mix well until the dough forms a ball

Knead the dough on a floured surface and add flour to the dough until it’s no longer sticky

Put the dough in a bowl and cover with a plate. Keep in a warm place for 90 minutes (I love to put it in my oven with just the oven light on)

Flour and surface and roll out the dough

Spread soft butter on the entire surface of the dough

Filling Ingredients:

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1-2 Teaspoons cinnamon

Sprinkle this filling all over the surface of your buttered dough

Tightly roll the dough onto itself to create a tight circle

Put the dough on a cutting board and slice every few inches to create your rolls

Add the rolls to a cast iron with parchment paper or a regular baking dish

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes

Orange Drizzle Ingredients:

1 cup powdered sugar

1 Tablespoon melted butter

5 Tablespoons of heavy cream

The juice of half an orange

Orange Zest

Mix all these ingredients well and drizzle on your rolls

Enjoy!
