Browned Butter Sourdough Brownies
This recipe is so special to me! It’s my great grandma Helen’s recipe that I reworked to be sourdough. Cooking family recipes is one of my favorite things and I’m so happy I get to share this with you!
Browned butter sourdough Brownie recipe:
400 grams of sugar
75 grams of cocoa powder
2 sticks browned butter
200 grams of sourdough discard
3 eggs
180 grams of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
2 teaspoons of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Chopped chocolate to add on top
Directions:
-Brown your butter on the stove and let it cook for 30 minutes to an hour.
-Preheat oven to 350°
-Sift and combine sugar and cocoa powder.
-Add your cooled browned butter and combine.
-Stir in your eggs and sourdough discard and mix well. *you can mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer but I prefer to do it by hand*
-Sift in the flour and then add your baking powder, vanilla and salt. Mix well but be sure not to over mix.
-add to a greased 9x13 glass pan and top with chopped chocolate (you can also top with candy canes or whatever your heart desires!)
-Bake 350° for 30-35 minutes
Tip: these brownies are better the day after they are baked so I’d suggest making them the day before you enjoy them!
